Meraki: A Syren Story by Naomi Kelly

Two posts in one day?? Who am I?? Ha. This is what happens when you've recently been traveling for 15 hours. :)

Okay, here's the little official bit of this review:

**I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.**

Now that that's over with...

I'm giving Meraki: A Syren Story by Naomi Kelly 3-stars because I like the general concept of the story. I like mythical creatures and gods/goddesses. I like the enemies-to-lovers trope.

But this book is not complete. There were quite a few typos throughout the book that should have been caught and the plot wasn't developed enough. I'm all for fast-paced books, but this just flies through events without much backstory or development. Some of the events felt disjointed from the rest of the book and the enemies-to-lovers scenario happens way too fast for me. I mean Wren was kidnapped and for the most part pretty much just decides she's into him. Sure, we see a softer side of Kellan from time-to-time, but being nice to other people isn't the same for atoning for kidnapping someone.

I think it was a great idea for a book but it needed more development and another editing pass. I really liked Wren and Kellan as characters, but I needed more from them and their stories.

The theme of my last week in Denver was "Eat at all your favorite places." So since this book took place at sea, I used it as an excuse (not that it was needed) to go to my favorite sushi place one last time: Osaka Sushi (http://osakasushi1.com/). Spicy tuna is one of my go-to rolls and I like the way it added some color to this otherwise kind of muted picture.

Thanks for stopping by!

-Kim
